Number of passenger flying to and from Bristol is increasing every day. In August, the airport received 6,80,000 passengers which shows increase of 1.42% on last year. Nearly 4 million have travelled through the Lulsgate Terminal. The number of international travellers during the summer gateway increased by 3.32%.
Passenger numbers at Bristol airport continued to increase throughout the year, except in April due to the Icelandic ash cloud which affected travel across Europe.
Raising numbers of passengers is not only good news for Bristol airport but for the entire Bristol city. Tourism, shoppers, hotels, apartments and travel modes are going to benefit from it. Part of the increase is inbound traffic (people going to Bath, Stonehenge) as well as customers going on holiday contributing to increase in passengers list.
The airport authorities now plan for further expansion where it will cover facilities to handle 10 million passengers a year.

A high speed rail service between London to Leeds will reduce air travel from West Yorkshire’s regional airport. Transport secretary eagerly support these super-fast trains connecting London to the north as it will replace the need for domestic flights.
The transport secretary also plans to start 250mph trains connected right through to the channel tunnel which will result in less use of flights from Leeds Bradford Airport to places like Amsterdam.
Some say replacement of domestic flights with rail service will have transformational affect on the economy. However bosses at Leeds Bradford International Airport (LBIA) deny this – predicting that use of domestic flights will increase, even when high speed rail is up and running, as it depends on public choice what travel method to use and the public like flying.
